The Transmasculine Literature Masterlist Project Launches
This has been months in the making. Here is the video, then I will say a few words about it:
Beside my laptop, for some months now, I've stacked every book I own that features any level of transmasculinity and I've been reading through them and taking notes for this project. The goal will be to make a video discussing each one in depth to ideally help it find its target audience, or critique the portrayal of transmasculinity. The true end goal is to open up discussion and understanding of the tropes and themes that repeat themselves throughout these stories (some will be nonfiction).
For many, many who have approached me and who I have talked to, finding transmasculine representation is very hard, some cannot or can hardly name five off from memory. Many don't fully grasp that this is not because it isn't out there, but it is because of the specific forms of erasure that impact transmasculine people and any media that features us. We are invisible in a lot of ways.
The way to combat that is to make ourselves and our stories visible. This is my true goal, and I hope you enjoy the journey with me. Don't hesitate to reach out to me if you feel you must do so in response to my work. I'm here, and I'll continue this project in due time.
